Am I Out Of My League?

As I sit here tonight putting the final touches on an 8 hour playlist for a Mardi Gras Party, I have discovered that this is a musical genre that I am not very familiar with; I am out of my comfort zone, musically speaking. And that's tough to do with me - as a life-long musician and 40 years of DJ'ing, I thought I was pretty well versed.

It's not that I don't know Zydeco, Jazz, Dixieland, Southern Country music. It's that I have found out that there are specific Mardi Gras songs, and artists, that are played at every Mardi Gras celebration, parade and party; songs & artists that I've have never heard of.

Thank God I have a co-worker who is from Lafayette, Louisiana that has a friend who is a professional Mardi Gras DJ! He has given me the sacred list of above-mentioned music, so as to make sure the party will be legit.

I have always said it is who you know, and this time I got the expert!
