In this week's podcast I got a little deep when I started talking about the Nature or Nurture debate. You know, the question about human nature; whether we're born with a particular personality or with a clean slate. I hadn't thought about it for awhile, but I can tell you where I stand.
Years ago one of my psychology professors was talking about it in class. After he told us what it was, he said all of his teachings and degrees convinced him that nurture is what shapes a person, until he had his 2nd child. He said once that one got to be 2 & 3 years old, it was obvious that the child was not his, because she was nothing like her sister! That set him on a path of discovery and concluded that we are indeed born with a certain, base personality, and then nurture helps form the rest of what we become as an individual.
Of course I knew that because I already had 2 kids, and they are nothing alike; to this day. When they were growing up they were more like chameleons - when they did something wrong they were more like their mother, and, well, you know the drill.
